Anime Convention Review
Welcome. Mikomicon 2006 is a new Anime, Sci-Fi and Gaming Convention held in California. In October 2006 over 600 people gathered at California State University Northridge. Before the second annual Mikomicon Convention begins in a couple of months, let’s remember Mikomicon 2006.
The conference ran for three days, October 13th to 15th and was packed with a variety of entertaining games and challenges including a Super Smash Bros tournament, performance by Random Ninjas and Stephanie Yanez.
Cost per day was $25, at weekends - $35.
After the opening by CSUN Anime Club, the convention begun. Among the on-stage guests there were voice actors Johnny Yong Bosch, Kyle Hebert, Rob Paulsen, Spike Spencer, Phillip Wilburn, writers Steven Barnes and professor Aki Hirota and many others.
The second day started with a massive tournament Super Smash Bros while other sections had on-stage interviews with voice actors and writers, music performances, etc.

The tournament (sponsored by Casino Smash) had over 120 entries. First place received a Nintendo Wii, while the second place finisher got a PSP.
Among on-stage interviews, the most interesting one was with a voice actor Spike Spencer (most familiar as Shinji Ikari in Evangelion). He’s a really fun and interesting man to talk to and in a couple of days we will upload the full interview with Spencer on to YouTube.
